How would you describe the growth and evolution of your channel, LaurDIY?
Every day has been a learning experience. I started with simple how-to videos and gradually moved on to more complex projects. I also began incorporating more personal elements into my content. It’s been amazing to see the positive reception from my viewers.
What motivated you to create a YouTube channel revolving around “Do-It-Yourself” projects?
I’ve always loved creating things with my own two hands. One day, I needed help with a project and couldn’t find a tutorial online. That’s when I thought, “Why not create my own?” And so, LaurDIY was born.
Can you recall a challenging DIY project you’ve undertaken, how did you navigate around those challenges?
One time, I took on a massive furniture restoration project. I won’t lie, it was tough and there were times when I felt like giving up. But with persistence and lots of research, I was able to finish the project.
What has been your most rewarding DIY project and why?
The projects that yield something I use every day are the most rewarding. Once, I made a vintage-inspired bookshelf from scratch. Now, every time I pick up a book, I see a reminder of what I can accomplish.
How have DIY projects been impactful in your life outside YouTube?
DIY projects taught me patience and persistence. Sometimes things don’t go as planned and that’s okay. The important thing is to learn from those experiences. Plus, I’ve saved a ton of money on furniture and home decor!
Can you share your thought process when creating DIY content for your YouTube channel?
I usually start with an idea that I’m personally interested in. Then, I’ll do some research on how to get it done using the simplest and most cost-effective methods. Afterward, I’ll try it out myself before filming the tutorial.
How do you balance your content creation process with other personal relationships and commitments?
It can be challenging, but it’s important to set aside time for personal aspects of my life. I try to manage my time effectively, and have specific days dedicated to filming so that I can still have a social life.
As an influential YouTuber, why did you choose the cause, “No child left behind” to support?
Education is incredibly important. I believe that every child deserves access to quality education, regardless of their financial background. So, it only made sense to support a cause that shares this belief.
Can you share how your passion for this cause reflects in your YouTube content and personal life?
Absolutely! I strive to make my content educational in a fun, accessible way. And off-camera, I’m regularly engaged in charity drives and mentoring programs to ensure that all kids have the same opportunities.
What advice would you share with someone looking to start their own DIY YouTube channel?
Just start. Don’t worry about having the perfect equipment or skills. What matters most is your passion and the willingness to learn and improve.
